Preaching that Makes a Difference

Proverbs 23:23
Get the truth and never sell it; also get wisdom, discipline, and good judgment  (New Living Translation)

Don’t Dilute the Doctrine!

Listen to this definition: dilute – corrupt or to make impure by adding a foreign or inferior substance; often by replacing valuable ingredients with inferior ones;
Anything you change in the Word of God will be inferior to what He already said!
In 2 Chronicles 25, there is the story of a king of Judah by the name of Amaziah.
and the Bible says that in the begininng he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord but not with perfect heart or not wholeheartedly.

In other words, he went through the motions of religion, he knew the right things to say, he knew when to clap, when stand, when to lift his hands; he knew how to do church and he performed the basic steps but his heart wasn’t in it!

He was just doing it because it was what he was SUPPOSED to do, not because he really WANTED to!

It was just a ritual, it was just a routine, he had it right on the outside but he never got it down for himself on the inside and because it wasn’t from his heart, he began to water it down.

And he went to war against the people of Seir and he easily defeated them but because he never got a hold of the doctrine he turned away from the LORD and he took the idols that people of Seir had made and he set them up to be his own gods and he bowed himself down to them and the Bible says the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah

and the preacher came to him and said, “if those false gods couldn’t save the people of Seir from you, if it didn’t work for them, why would you think they will work for you?”

but Amaziah wouldn’t listen to the preacher and his life ended tragically and he wound up being murdered by his own people.

And that same question that is being asked of us today.

If what the world is doing isn’t working for them, why do we think it will work for us?

Just because someone puts on a smile doesn’t mean they are happy, it doesn’t mean that life is wonderful and they have it all together. If their lifestyle isn’t working for them, if it’s not bringing them closer to God, why are we moving away from what we have to be like them? If it won’t work for them, it won’t work for us either!

But this precious truth that we have has stood the test of time; it has been laughed at, made fun of, called outdated, it’s been run down and it’s been attacked throughout the ages but it’s still here because it’s the only message that will make a difference, it’s the only message that can save the lost, so whatever you do, if they laugh at you, let them laugh at you, if they turn their backs on you, let them turn their backs on you

if they call you crazy, let them call you crazy, if you have to stand by yourself then honey stand by yourself

but whatever you do, DON’T DILUTE THIS DOCTRINE!
